Jasper, Ga. (August 11, 2025) – The Piedmont Mountainside Medical Executive Committee made a generous $1,000 donation today to the Weekend Snack Program, a local nonprofit initiative dedicated to fighting childhood hunger in the community.
The Weekend Snack Program currently serves 675 students in the local school system, providing 6–8 food items each week to children who may otherwise go without meals over the weekend. As one volunteer shared, “A hungry stomach has no ears,” emphasizing the importance of nutrition in a child’s ability to learn and thrive.
The donation was presented by members of the Medical Executive Committee, including:
Vimal Patel, DO, Chief Medical Officer
Denise Ray, RN, President and CEO
Robert Miller, MD, Medical Staff Department Chair

“We are proud to support a program that directly impacts the health and well-being of children in our community,” said Dr. Carl McCurdy, Piedmont Mountainside Medical Staff President. “This donation reflects our commitment to care beyond the walls of the hospital.”
