Piedmont Henry Presents 2024 Nursing Awards

Stockbridge, Ga. (May 9, 2024) – Piedmont Henry Hospital celebrated Nurses Week on Tuesday, May 7 with its annual Nursing Awards. Nurses and nurse leaders were nominated by their peers in the following categories: Nurse Resident of the Year, Nurse Preceptor of the Year, Nurse Leader of the Year, and Nurse of the Year.

Savannah Rose, RN, was named the Nurse Resident of the Year. A nurse on 4 North, she was nominated for being an outstanding patient advocate and for showing kindness, care, and compassion. Her nomination letter stated that she “talks lovingly with patients and treats every one of them as family.”

Gley Jaynes, RN, was named Nurse Preceptor of the Year. A previous winner for Nurse of the Year (2022), Jaynes, a nurse on 4 Northeast, is the unit-based educator for her floor and teaches acute care onboarding, which looks at all areas of stroke care, for all of the acute care new grads. She also developed a Stroke 101 course for the new hires on the unit because she is passionate about delivering the best possible care to all stroke patients.

Naomi Muhammad, a charge nurse and preceptor on 2 South, was named Nurse Leader of the Year. She was recognized for her kindness and for developing relationships with her patients. One story that was told involved Muhammad helping a patient get her hair back in order. Muhammad was also praised as a great educator, leader, and colleague.

Heather Alvarado from 4 Northeast was named Nurse of the Year. She serves as a charge nurse and preceptor and works with students and new graduates on the Dedicated Education Unit. Her nomination letter read, “She is a true champion for the best patient care. If I were a patient, I would want to look up and see Heather as my nurse.”

At the event, Piedmont Henry also recognized the following nurses as DAISY Award winners; Jesse Teleus (September), Alecia Francis (October), Ladarius Burage (November), Daphney Colin (December), Abiodun Oyeboade (January), Kayley Lewis (February), and Rachel Carrington (March).
