Both Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospitals Earn ‘A’ Grades in Patient Safety and Quality

Columbus, Ga. (May 1, 2024)— Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown has earned its first ever ‘A’ in the Spring 2024 Leapfrog grades. Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside was awarded its twelfth straight ‘A’ grade, which dates back to fall 2018 when it was first eligible.

“It speaks volumes that both Piedmont facilities in Columbus were the only hospitals in the area to receive this top honor,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional CEO Scott Hill. “I’m grateful to our community for trusting us with their health care needs every single day.”

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving healthcare quality and safety. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients. Leapfrog's Hospital Safety Grades are released each spring and fall— helping consumers/patients make informed decisions when choosing where to seek medical care.

“This is a huge deal and worth celebrating— we’ve had our eyes on this goal for years now,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional Chief Medical Officer Christopher Edwards, M.D. “These ‘A’ grades were no easy feat, and I’m blessed to work with such talented team members who are focused on living real change by providing safer, high-quality health care.”
