Piedmont Columbus Announces New Visitor Management System

Columbus, Ga. (March 4, 2020) – Piedmont Columbus Regional joins more than 400 hospitals and healthcare systems that uses the Omnigo system to ensure safer facilities. The visitor management software is now live at both Midtown and Northside campuses and the John B. Amos Cancer Center.

Going forward, visitors must have a valid ID in order to enter the facility. If the visitor does not have a valid ID, our staff will take a photo of them (just like how the DMV does with the driver’s license process).

Kiosks will be placed at public entrances on all campuses and they will be equipped with computers, cameras, and printers. Staff will take the visitor’s valid ID and input other information (such as room number or department) into the system.

Omnigo will generate a PHI-compliant badge sticker for visitors to wear at all times. The printer is equipped with specialized ink so the information on the badge sticker will disappear/expire in 12 hours. Once this happens, the visitor needs to either leave the facility or go back to the entrance to be re-screened and get a new badge sticker.

“Omnigo will greatly expand our abilities to manage our visitor population and ensure a safe environment for our patients, staff, and anyone that enters our facilities,” said Mike Brown, Director of Public Safety at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

The Omnigo software was made possible by community donations to the COVID response fund at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

“Philanthropy has made a tremendous impact on our ability to better care for our patients and staff over the last year,” said Aline Lasseter, Executive Director of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation.

Visitors will still be required to undergo a temperature check and health questionnaire at the entrances before they get to the new Omnigo process.

Piedmont Columbus Regional joins Piedmont Athens Regional as the only hospitals in the Piedmont family who use Omnigo.
