Kiwanis Club of Fayette County Donates $100,000 to Piedmont Fayette

Fayetteville, Ga. (February 18, 2020) - Piedmont Fayette Hospital recently received a generous gift of $100,000 from the Kiwanis Club of Fayette County that will provide several new beds to the hospital’s critical care department. One of the beds is a Vitalgo Total Lift Bed. A total lift bed allows for upright positioning and weight bearing, helping patients who are immobile with mobility.

“The donation from the Kiwanis Club of Fayette County will make an enormous difference in the lives and recovery of some of or most critically ill patients,” said Annette Harrilson, Director of Critical Care Nursing at Piedmont Fayette. “We know that mobility is vital for patients as they regain strength and recover. The total lift bed allows for patients who may be on a ventilator, or immobile, to improve respiration and circulation, and begin physical therapy.”

Piedmont Fayette was recently named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades and has also been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care for 2020. Those recognitions were earned primarily because Piedmont Fayette showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).

“Piedmont Fayette is an important part of the community and it touches every life in this county,” said Brad Pasto, President of the Kiwanis Club of Fayette County. “We’re proud to support them because we know they provide outstanding care to the community.”

Philanthropy plays a major role in the services that the hospital is able to provide.

“As a nonprofit hospital, support from our community is a critical part of supporting our mission. We are able to transform donor generosity into hospital improvements, new technology, upgraded equipment, and expanded programs that directly impact patient care,” said Andrea Mendez, Director of Philanthropy, Piedmont Healthcare Foundation. “We are grateful to Kiwanis Club of Fayette County who have been so supportive of Piedmont Fayette Hospital over the years.”
