Our Elite Primary Care Track aims to provide innovative, patient-based and learner-centered primary care training, preparing trainees to deliver outstanding care in the outpatient setting. The track is fully integrated within the categorical residency training program yet distinct in its primary and ambulatory care emphasis. The program is designed for residents considering general medicine or fellowship training leading to careers in health policy, health services research, quality improvement, clinical epidemiology, or medical education, providing flexibility in our curriculum to prepare graduates for these areas.

Our Elite Primary Care Track provides comprehensive clinical and curricular experience in both inpatient and outpatient medicine.  

Additional focus areas are clinical epidemiology, advocacy, social determinants of health, population health, and the business of medicine.  Unique experiences for the Primary Care Track are Primary Care Journal Club, Field Trips to Local Practices, and ACP Advocacy Day at the Georgia Capitol.

The primary care residents benefit from the AU/UGA Medical Partnership, working with pre-medical and medical students in quality improvement or health promotion projects to benefit the local community.

PGY-1 residents choose the primary care track at the end of their intern year.
