Dr. Lohiya earned her medical degree from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India. She completed her residency at Baptist Health System, and a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Lohiya is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She has publications in reputable endocrine journals such as Clinical Diabetes and Endocrine Practice. Prior to joining Piedmont Atlanta Physicians Group she was Fayette County’s first endocrinologist!

She is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Diabetes Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Lohiya enjoys playing the violin and reading historical fiction. She has two young children who are her pride and joy!

Jennifer Gilligan, MD, received her medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology at Emory University. Dr. Gilligan is board certified in internal medicine and brings with her more than five years of experience. Prior to joining Piedmont Physicians Group, Dr. Gilligan was an emergency room physician at Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Decatur. Dr. Gilligan is proficient in Spanish and has done research in diabetes and diabetes care. Dr. Gilligan will be in practice with Imad El-Kebbi, MD, and Reshma Patel, MD. She is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.

Miriam Thomas, M.D. received her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine after receiving her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at Brown University and her fellowship in endocrinology at Emory University. Dr. Thomas is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Thomas specializes in endocrinology and provides services and treatments for patients ages 18 years and older. She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

In her spare time, Dr. Thomas enjoys cooking and spending time with her family. Dr. Thomas welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

Komal Mehta, MD received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed both her internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Mehta is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Mehta specializes in the management of adults with disorders of the endocrine system including diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary gland disorders. She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

Dr. Reshma Patel M.D received her Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency and her Endocrinology Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She joined Piedmont Endocrinology in Atlanta, GA in 2009. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr. Patel specializes in management of adults with disorders of the Endocrine system. Her special interests include management of Thyroid disease, Women's health, Pituitary disorders, Adrenal disorders, Osteoporosis and Diabetes Mellitus. Dr. Patel is passionate about helping her patients obtain optimal health. She provides services and treatments for patients ages 18 years and older. She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
