As an internationally recognized Neurosurgical Oncologist and the inaugural Chief of Neuroscience at Piedmont Healthcare, Dr. Andrew Sloan has combined his passion for neurosurgery, a lifelong fascination with innovation, and extensive education and training with leading experts at Yale, Harvard, UCLA and MD Anderson Cancer Center to treat and sometimes cure debilitating neurological diseases.

A prolific surgeon who has performed over 6,000 craniotomies, Dr. Sloan's published surgical outcomes for brain tumors demonstrates that techniques he described in conjunction with leaders at Mayo Clinic and UCSF can more than double the expected survival for glioblastoma. He has also pioneered minimally invasive surgical techniques (LITT), allowing patients other surgeons considered "inoperable" to return home only two days after surgical ablation. Cited in multiple Top Doctor/Surgeon lists since 2003, Dr. Sloan has been recognized with several national awards including the Mahaley Award from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the National Brain Tumor Foundation Award and the Neuro-Oncology Award from the Congress of Neurological Surgery. His surgical and immunotherapy research has been funded by the NIH and numerous Foundations and industry, and he has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications, nine U.S. patent applications, 700 invited presentations and served on the editorial boards of several leading neurosurgical and oncology journals.

Dr. Sloan also recognizes that surgery is not always the best solution for every patient and emphasizes the critical importance of patient education and communication combined with multi-disciplinary care with experts in other allied fields to provide each patient the best treatment options. He works with multiple brain tumor foundations, NCI-affiliated consortiums, and patient support groups such as "GBM Survivors to Thrivers" to provide guidance and expert consultation to patients and physicians around the world, helping patients find the best care as close to home as possible.

Dr. Kenning is a board certified neurosurgeon at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. He is fellowship trained and specializes in neurosurgical oncology and skull base surgery. As the Department Chair of Neurosciences at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and Director of the Piedmont Center for Pituitary and Skull Base Surgery, Dr. Kenning provides a comprehensive and tailored approach to the treatment of cranial base disorders and brain tumors. He works with a multidisciplinary team of head and neck surgeons, neuro-oncologists and radiation oncologists. He specializes in the treatment of disorders of the skull base, including pituitary tumors, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas and cranial nerve disorders, including trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, and glossopharyngeal neuralgia.

Dr. Kenning earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He completed his internship and residency at Albany Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology and Skull Base Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Kenning is a member of the North American Skull Base Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors, the Pituitary Network Association, and the Facial Pain Association. He has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, presented at national neurosurgical meetings, and co-authored two textbooks (Craniopharyngiomas: Comprehensive Diagnosis, Treatment and Outcome, Elsevier, 2015 and Endoscopic and Keyhole Cranial Base Surgery, Springer, 2019).

Dr. Kenning is also fellowship-trained in stereotactic radiosurgery, a non-invasive treatment of benign and malignant tumors as well as other intracranial disorders that involves the directing of highly focused and extremely precise beams of ionizing radiation without requiring an incision.

Dr. McCracken is a board-certified, fellowship trained Neurosurgical Oncologist who specializes in the surgical treatment of primary and metastatic tumors affecting the brain, pituitary gland, spine and spinal cord, and skull-base. He is well-versed in many different surgical approaches including open and minimally invasive craniotomies, endoscopic approaches to the skull base and pituitary gland, and stereotactic radiosurgery with both Gamma Knife and Linear Accelerator based technology. His goal in every surgery is maximizing extent of tumor resection while preserving neurological function using complex neuromonitoring techniques. He is an expert in cortical and subcortical motor mapping and awake craniotomies for language identification and preservation. He currently serves as the Director of Stereotactic Radiosurgery at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

His team prides itself on an integrated, multi-disciplinary care of patients with a close working relationship with Neuro-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Neuro-Pathology, Neurology, and Physical and Occupational Therapy. He is an advocate for promoting research through translational clinical trials and adapting innovative surgical technologies to help bring the best care to patients from all over the Southeast. Dr. McCracken currently serves on a multitude of investigational clinical trials for glioblastoma, metastatic brain disease, and meningioma. He is an advocate for the use of innovative surgical therapies such as GammaTile brachytherapy and the imaging agent Gleolan (5-ALA). He is one of the leading surgeons in the country implanting GammaTile for patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent glioblastoma, brain metastases, and malignant meningiomas.

Dr. McCracken also treats facial pain known as Trigeminal Neuralgia. Through a combination of medications, surgical microvascular decompression, stereotactic radiosurgery, or percutaneous ablative type procedures he can provide a solution to almost all patient experiencing this disease.

He is a strong supporter of the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation and the American Brain Tumor Association. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Georgia Neurosurgical Society. He will serve as the President of the Georgia Neurosurgical Society from 2024-2025.
