Weight loss support groups
Overview
The Piedmont Bariatric Surgery Program offers several FREE support groups. They meet throughout each month for patients preparing for or who have already had bariatric surgery. Trained bariatric psychologists, registered dietitians, nurses and professional chefs help patients manage dietary changes, emotional issues and body image concerns. Studies show that patients who regularly attend support groups may have greater success maintaining long-term weight loss after bariatric surgery.
Benefits of attending a support group:
- Reduce anxiety of pre-operative patients by hearing first-hand stories from people who had surgery
- Identify with other people who share a similar experience
- Provide a place for long-term veterans to have accountability
- Offer a non-judgmental environment for people who need to get back on track after surgery
- Learn new food and nutrition tips to incorporate into your healthy lifestyle
We welcome you to bring your friends and family, but please do not bring children.
