Moving Day South Event Enjoys Successful Second Year

Fayetteville, Ga. (April 3, 2025) – On Saturday, March 29, City Center Park in Fayetteville was full of men and women moving to show their support for those battling Parkinson’s disease. This was the second year for Moving Day South, a community walk and joint venture between Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Neurology Fayetteville and the Parkinson’s Foundation.

“This event exceeded our expectations. Over 300 people attended the walk and just over $56,000 was raised to advance research, provide educational resources, and fund programs that make life better for people living with Parkinson’s disease,” said Evan Johnson, M.D., a neurologist and movement disorder specialist at Piedmont Fayette. “I am so proud that we were able to make this the most successful Community Walk in the nation for the second year in a row.”

An event of this magnitude is only possible thanks to a dedicated group of teams, sponsors, and volunteers. The top two fundraising teams at this year’s walk were: Team Newnan with $4,141 and Punching Out Parkinson’s Boxing with $1,750. Main Street Fayetteville; Brent Scarbrough & Co. and The Scarbrough Group; Abbvie Pharmaceuticals; Bentsen, Smith and Johnson; and CenterWell Senior Health were just some of the many sponsors who made Moving Day South possible.

“Piedmont’s purpose is to make a positive difference in every life we touch,” Dr. Johnson said, “Moving Day South touched hundreds of lives this year and will make a significant impact on local Parkinson’s patients, and their caregivers, for many years to come.”
