Monroe, Ga. (December 13, 2023) – Piedmont Walton Clinical Education Coordinator Jamilla Fontenot and Human Resources Business Partner Nicole Malcom represented Piedmont at the Monroe Area High School healthcare-focused Industry Day, educating students on the various career paths available in the healthcare field.

“Students are often surprised to learn how many departments, both clinical and non-clinical, support a hospital,“ explained Malcom. “During events like Industry Day, we have the opportunity to talk to students with various interests and teach them how their skills can fit into the larger picture of healthcare. We want them to understand that there are more positions than just doctor or nurse, which many of them aren’t familiar with, so it gets them thinking about a career in healthcare when previously they hadn’t considered that path."

During the event, students had the opportunity to play games that taught them about medication management, diagnostic testing, infection prevention, and patient care. They also learned more about the educational requirements for the many positions available at Piedmont.
