Atlanta, Ga. (June 3, 2019) – Before their children head off to college or step onto a high school athletic field for practices that begin in July, parents or recent graduates can use Piedmont Healthcare’s online scheduling option to book appointments for physical exams. Some colleges, professional schools and trade schools require a physical before students can start class.

Piedmont is a leader in making it easier for patients to schedule appointments online. It became the first major healthcare system in Georgia to do so and has averaged more than 13,000 online appointments per month, among the most of any system in the country. By using Piedmont MyChart (Piedmont’s secure online patient portal), the Piedmont Healthcare website (Piedmont.org), or the Piedmont Now app on their smartphones, patients can book appointments with Piedmont physicians and all Piedmont Urgent Care and Piedmont QuickCare at Walgreens locations.

“We know that people prefer to make appointments online and on their own time, and we’re happy to give them that opportunity,” said Matt Gove, chief consumer officer for Piedmont Healthcare. “By making it easy to schedule appointments, we make the access to care efficient and seamless.”

Online scheduling often makes Piedmont QuickCare the quickest and most convenient way for patients to get the care they need. Close to half of the patients served by Piedmont QuickCare have booked their appointments online and many have commented about the convenience of scheduling an appointment without a phone call. Many bookings – 45 percent according to Piedmont’s metrics – are scheduled outside of normal weekday office hours and on the weekends.

“Summer can be a very busy time for students and their families,” Gove said. “Providing our patients an option to schedule their appointments when it is convenient for them to do so is just another way that Piedmont provides high-quality, patient-centered care.”
