Conyers, Ga. (Oct. 4, 2021) – Piedmont Physicians Group is pleased to announce that six pulmonologists have joined Piedmont Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Rockdale, a new practice located at 1380 Milstead Ave NE, Suite C, Conyers, GA 30012.

The new physicians are Kendol Thomas, M.D., Georges Al-Helou, M.D., Shimool Rabbani, M.D, Kawanjit Surapur, M.D, and Hadi Hatoum, M.D. David Green, M.D., will join the practice on Oct. 18. They have already been providing inpatient critical care coverage in the ICUs of Piedmont Newton Hospital and Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. They began seeing patients in the outpatient clinic on Sept. 27. 

Dr. Thomas is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. He received his medical degree from Saint Georges University and his internal medicine training at Seton Hall University Internal Medicine Program at Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton, N.J. He later completed a fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Al-Helou attended the American University of Beirut Medical School before moving to the United States to complete a residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Rabbani completed his residency and pulmonary medicine/critical care fellowship at Jefferson Health/Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, N.J. He has a special interest in advanced procedures, ultrasonography, and lung nodules.

Dr. Surapur attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit before completing her residency and a fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She specializes in interstitial lung disease, COPD, asthma, interventional procedures, and advanced lung imaging.

Dr. Hatoum is board-certified in critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine, and internal medicine.  He attended American University of Beirut Medical School and completed his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Hatoum specializes in COPD, interstitial lung disease, and critical care medicine.

Dr. Green attended medical school at the University of Alabama and completed his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Emory University. He is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine. Dr. Green has a special interest in advanced lung disease.
