Piedmont Athens Hosts Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Care Conference Feb. 22

Athens, Ga. (Feb. 18, 2020) – The 15th annual Cardiac Vascular and Stroke Care Conference will be held at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Physicians and other healthcare professionals who attend will learn about current topics and challenges in primary care.

“We are very excited about the dynamic and engaging speakers for this conference,” said Matthew Crim, M.D., cardiologist with Piedmont Heart Institute in Athens and co-chair of the upcoming conference’s planning committee.

According to Dr. Crim, the annual Cardiac Vascular and Stroke Care Conference is important to keep providers and other health professionals up to date on the latest advances in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases.

“Keeping up with the latest evidence-based recommendations can be overwhelming for busy health care professionals,” said Dr. Crim. “Our conference provides healthcare professionals with a convenient way to learn about the latest medical and technological advances to manage patients with cardiovascular disease as well as new research in the treatment for strokes.”

The conference, now in its 15th year, draws participants from northeast Georgia. Topics for this year’s conference include stem cell therapies as an emerging paradigm for the treatment for stroke, a new procedure for treating carotid disease, updates on preventive cardiology, a review of direct oral anticoagulants and outpatient management of patients with heart failure.

The Cardiac Vascular and Stroke Care Conference will be held in Piedmont Athens Regional’s Medical Services Building located at 242 King Avenue in Athens.

This conference is open to all members of the healthcare community, and continuing education credit is available for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. Piedmont Athens Regional is accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia to provide continuing medical education.
