Piedmont Mountainside Auxiliary Celebrates 35 Years of Love Lights

Jasper, GA. (December 3, 2019) — The Piedmont Mountainside Hospital Auxiliary invites the community to the lighting of the Love Light Tree on Monday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. in the lobby at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

“We are proud to invite the community into the hospital for this event each year,” said Pam Piper, President of the Piedmont Mountainside Auxiliary Board of Directors. “It offers a chance for people to get to know their community hospital better, to meet their neighbors and to honor or remember people they love this holiday season.”

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the annual event, which offers people in the community the chance to support Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital by purchasing lights in honor or memory of people they love. A Love Light can be purchased for $5 and a Star Light for $25. All donations are tax deductible. Piedmont Healthcare is a non-profit organization.

“While lighting the Love Light Tree is an important part of our celebration, we have lots of fun up our sleeves,” said Denise Ray, CEO of Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. “We’ll have activities for children, including a very special guest to light the tree, a Christmas card competition featuring artwork from elementary school students in Pickens and Gilmer counties and a display and silent auction of wreaths created by Piedmont Mountainside employees.”

The Piedmont Mountainside Auxiliary celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Members have worked almost half a million volunteer hours and have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the hospital and organizations throughout the community. In 2010, they were instrumental in helping to launch Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at the hospital and have continued to support the program. Last year, the Love Light celebration raised more than $4,600 for Cardiac Rehabilitation Services.

“We are so incredibly grateful to the members of Piedmont Mountainside’s Auxiliary,” said Ray. “They demonstrate a commitment to caring for our community in so many ways – not only through their hard work and support of the hospital, but also through their commitment to other community programs. All of them live the Piedmont Promise of making a positive difference in every life they touch.”
