Philanthropy is as integral to Piedmont Hospital’s fabric as are skilled health professionals and state-of-the-art medical care.

For more than a century, we have served Atlanta and Georgia as a not-for-profit hospital supported in essential and powerful ways by the gifts of generous friends.  Piedmont today is largely what philanthropy has encouraged and empowered us to become.

The dynamics of 21st Century healthcare, especially in these times of general economic stress, make it extraordinarily important for us to continue to earn and encourage the support of our friends. Unlike other not-for-profit sectors, healthcare systems can provide a tangible measurement for the impact of the philanthropic dollar.

In 2008, across Piedmont Healthcare, every $1 million in philanthropic gifts had the same earning impact as $27,470,000 of operating revenue. To put it another way, the value of every dollar given to Piedmont multiplied more than 27 times in quality medical care for our patients.  The role of philanthropy at Piedmont is powerful and grows more important every year.

As you peruse our site, you will see a wide scope of donor interests reflected in our programs and facilities.  In many cases, personal or family experience has been the motivating force.  In other cases, donors have helped us address unmet needs on which the community’s well-being depends.
