Atlanta, Ga. (June 18, 2012) – Piedmont Healthcare announces Lisa Hedenstrom as the organization’s first system-wide chief nursing officer, effective July 1.

Formerly the chief nursing officer at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Hedenstrom recently became involved with additional system-wide leadership initiatives. In her new role, she will continue being the nursing executive responsible for leading the standardization of nursing practices across the five Piedmont-affiliated hospitals.

“Lisa will be a critical member of the executive team,” said Tim Stack, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare. “The mix of nursing expertise and leadership skills she possesses, coupled with her administrative, strategic and operational experience, makes her the right choice for Piedmont Healthcare’s chief nursing officer.”

Hedenstrom joined Piedmont Fayette Hospital in November 2001. There, she was responsible for the oversight of all nursing areas, developed a nursing leadership program and led major clinical expansion projects for emergency services, critical care, surgical services, medical/surgical services and women’s services.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Hedenstrom served in nursing leadership roles at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga. and Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville, Ga.

Hedenstrom holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University and earned her Master of Science in Nursing Administration at the Medical College of Georgia before completing her Master of Arts in Business Administration in 1998. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in nursing from Georgia State University.
