Dr. Eric M. Gibney is a transplant nephrologist on the renal transplantation team at Piedmont Transplant Institute who specializes in kidney diseases and transplantation. Dr. Gibney’s special interests include living kidney donation, transplant outreach, kidney disease in patients with liver disease, transplantation in HIV and clinical immunosuppression.
Prior to joining Piedmont Transplant Institute, Dr. Gibney was a transplant surgeon with the Division of Nephrology at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Gibney received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in renal transplantation and nephrology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Col. He completed his residency at New York University School of Medicine where he was also chief medical resident. He has also performed post-graduate work in clinical research and biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Gibney is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology and has been published over 500 times.
