Columbus, Georgia (March 27, 2023)— Piedmont Columbus Regional kicked off the Spring 2023 nurse residency cohort by welcoming newly-licensed RNs into its nurse residency program (NRP).

The new RNs recently attended their first seminar and had the chance to meet with Nurse Residency Coordinators Tammy Gilliland and Amalia Acevedo-Sanic plus receive an overview of the program. The guest speaker for this seminar was Chief Nursing Officer Cary Burcham. During the seminar, the topics of discussion included a focus on self-care and holistic wellness.

The year-long evidence-based nurse residency program focuses on supporting new RNs as they transition from advanced beginner to competent clinical professionals in the Piedmont system. With a focus on patient safety, quality outcomes, and service, nurse residents will also explore their own professional engagement and development.

Currently the NRP (Midtown and Northside) has a total of 96 nurse residents. Nurse residents are accepted into the program three times a year: spring, summer, and fall. Visit this page to learn more about the Columbus NRP.
