Piedmont and UnitedHealthcare have established a new network relationship, giving people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, including the group National PPO plan and UnitedHealthcare’s Dual Special Needs Plan, access to Piedmont’s 16 hospitals, more than 800 locations and the Piedmont Clinic’s state-wide network of physicians, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

The multi-year agreement provides UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage members enhanced access to top-quality, affordable care and gives seniors a new option as they choose which health plan best meets their health care needs during the current Medicare annual enrollment period.

Piedmont and UnitedHealthcare also reached agreement months early on a new multi-year relationship for people enrolled in employer-sponsored plans, ensuring continued access to the health system’s facilities and physicians. Piedmont will also participate in UnitedHealthcare’s Individual & Family Plans offered through the marketplace exchange, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

“We appreciate UnitedHealthcare’s ongoing collaboration and are excited that Piedmont and UnitedHealthcare have been able to expand that relationship so that we can provide greater access to our system to more Georgians,” said Piedmont Healthcare President and CEO Kevin Brown. “When providers and health plans have a common goal, it is easy for us to find common ground on these extremely important agreements.”

“Our new relationship with Piedmont offers the people we serve throughout Georgia greater access to quality, cost-effective care,” said Gregg Kunemund, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement in Georgia. “We are grateful for the collaborative relationships we share with care providers like Piedmont who are committed to improving the quality and cost of care.”
